  1. This position is a logistics customer service role that is fast paced, requires multi-tasking and problem solving and allows our teammates to be challenged every day. The main components of the role include, but are not limited to:

    1. Interact, communicate, establish relationships and serve as liaison between traders, suppliers, consumers and freight vendors along with all other DJJ and Nucor personnel.
    2. Extensive data entry within internal applications as well as tracking of business on external websites for various customers.
    3. Coordinate and schedule shipments and maintain close follow-up processes.
    4. Obtain freight rates with truck lines, process freight invoices and coordinate the administration of contractual agreements.
    5. Maintain truck vendor insurance compliance.
    6. Coordinate handling, disposition, and reporting of rejected shipments.
    7. Bill rail cars as well as monitor shipment movement with railroad websites to ensure delivery schedule accuracy.
    8. Review and analyze various reports and initiate the handling required to maintain a current status.
    9. Maintain appropriate records/files by accurately documenting all calls and activities when researching issues for assigned accounts.
    10. Problem solve when issues arise and identify best practices to streamline procedures and processes.
    11. Other duties as assigned by Manager.


  1. Minimum 2 years college business courses or equivalent work experience preferred.
  2. Minimum 2 years of commercial customer service experience preferred.
  3. Knowledge of logistics or transportation industry, including working knowledge of shipping/scheduling vocabulary and terms preferred.
  4. Ability to be flexible to changing priorities with a proactive reaction to problems, problem-solving and unusual situations that may occur in dealing with customers.
  5. Independent thinking skills and initiative, flexibility to shift changing priorities and ability to work autonomously with general supervision.
  6. Strong organizational skills, ability to work with deadlines and skills to appropriately resolve customer complaints/issues or unusual situations that may arise.
  7. Communication skills both verbal and written.
  8. Professional telephone skills with the ability to handle difficult telephone communications.
  9. Proficient PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel with ability to quickly learn in-house systems.
  10. Bi-lingual speaking skills in Spanish preferred.
