Kuumba is the key to your child being able to enrich their creativity, reading and writing skills, knowledge of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs information, partake in many community and cultural activities and also participate in various indoor and outdoor activities.
Education
Should camp only consist of going on field trips and having fun with friends? Youth may say yes, but adults think otherwise. Throughout the 8 week program, youth will broaden their knowledge in reading, writing, computers, violence prevention, alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention, nutrition, and information gained from some cultural/educational trips that will be taken during the course of the program.
Activities
The name of program says it all, KUUMBA! In the Swahilli language Kuumba means creativity. Youth will be able to present their talents through arts, crafts, poetry, theme writing, etc. Other activities include computer lessons, basketball and swimming. If for health or any other reason your child is not able to participate in the activities, accommodations will be made.
Field Trips
Have you lived here for years and still haven't seen the sites Cincinnati has to offer? If your children participate in KUUMBA they will explore the attractions of Cincinnati. KUUMBA will feature exciting filed trips such as the Cincinnati Museum Center, the Cincinnati Zoo, putt golf, roller skating, bowling. In addition youth will visit Coney Island, sporting events.
